Your "Most Epic Anime"

Elfen Lied! It's only 12 episodes long, but it's one of my favourites. It's gory, funny and sexy, as well as dark and complex. There were some parts where I've started choking up. The episode can become bittersweet and emotional at times. I've even fallen in love with characters I've once hated. If you're looking for blood, gore, drama and a good cry, I highly recommend it. It's a little slow in the first episode, but you will be hooked.

It's not my favorite overall but you said to list epic so I'd have to go with Code Geass. One of the main reasons I file it under epic is I watched it as it came out and originally it was only supposed to have one season, and for any one who has seen it season 1 ends on a MASSIVE cliffhanger. Overall the reason I like it so much is out of every anime I've seen that actually ends, it had the best ending. The ending is complete and you are satisfied but however there is a hint of mystery as the credits are rolling and a lot of people speculate different things about the last conversation. Overall a great anime.

Code Geass 2 for me It's something that makes you really think. And the plot isn't typical. When I first watched it, for me it was mindfuck

Samurai 7 is also good. Attack on Titan, anyone?

The anime that stood out the most for me I would call "epic" for it's action. It's "epic" in how it takes you for one hell of an emotional roller coaster. I of course speak of Clannad and Clannade After Story. By the time I finished both, I was so emotionally drained that I went and re-watched some comedy anime's just to refresh myself from it.

My most epic anime would have to be Fate Zero. Superb art and great fighting scenes.

Compelling storyline
No over the type shonen tropes

One Piece. Only because its ongoing to 600+ episodes and never ceases to entertain me

Definitely would have to go with Operi and say Code Geass. It mixes so many genres in that wouldn't normally fit together and while it appeals to those who love mecha it also appeals to alot of other demographics. Can't wait for the next movie in the OVA Code Geass movie series to come out.
